Decorated Cookie Information
-
What are custom decorated cookies?Custom decorated sugar cookies consist of a thick, soft, sugar cookie that is cut into fun shapes using cookie cutters and decorated with multiple colors of royal icing. Each decorated cookie that One Baker’s Journey creates is handmade. Every batch of dough is made to order, rolled, cut, and baked to perfection. The icing is mixed and colored for each order to match your colors and theme. Then each cookie is hand pipped and decorated in a process that can take hours to complete. Once finished, each cookie is a unique and edible piece of art that will add a special touch to your event or celebration.
-
What flavors do you offer?Flavors offered are my signature vanilla (my most popular flavor), lemon, snickerdoodle (cinnamon and sugar), and birthday cake (vanilla and almond with rainbow sprinkles). All flavors are iced with vanilla royal icing.
-
How are the cookies packaged? Each cookie will be individually heat sealed in plastic sleeves to preserve freshness and then packed carefully into a box. Packaging for gifts and party favors with bows and boxes are available for a additional cost.
-
How long do cookies stay fresh? All cookies will come individually heat sealed in a plastic sleeve. Sealed in their original package, cookies can stay fresh for up to 3 weeks at room temperature. Do not refrigerate cookies, as this will dry them out. For longer storage cookies can be frozen for up to 2 months. For best results, keep them individually sealed and place them in an airtight Tupperware type container. When thawing, take the container out of the freezer and place it on the counter to thaw completely without taking the lid off, about 8 hours. Opening the container before it's completely thawed can cause condensation to develop and ruin the icing.
-
How far in advance do I need to place an order?Custom cookie order details must be finalized at least two weeks in advance. It is a good idea to lock in your date as early as possible by paying the non-refundable deposit. My calendar can fill up fast, so the sooner your order is finalized the better. I open my calendar for 2-3 months at a time. The current dates I'm accepting orders for will be listed at the top of this page. I send out an email when new months open up for requests. If you haven't signed up for my email newsletters, click here.

What happens after I submit an order request? After you fill out and submit our custom cookie order request form, I will email you within 7 days to discuss your request and ask for more information if needed. I will then work up a price for you. Once you receive your total and you would like to place an order, I will send you a PayPal invoice and a $25 non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your date. Once you receive your invoice, deposits must be paid within 24 hours or the date you selected may go to the next customer. Your order and date are not confirmed until the deposit has been paid. Two weeks before your order is due, I will contact you to confirm the quantity and details of your order. Once your order has been finalized, your invoice will need to be paid in full at least one week before your pick-up date. After the invoice has been paid in full, no changes or refunds can be made to the order.
-
What type of payments are accepted?I only accept payments from PayPal or cash. You do not need a PayPal account to pay your invoice. You can pay as a guest using any card they accept. If you wish to pay with cash, please email me at mailonebakersjourney@gmail.com and arrange a drop off date and time. Payment timelines are the same whether you pay with cash or PayPal.

What allergens are in your cookies? My cookies contain: wheat, gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs. My cookies are made in a home kitchen that is not allergen free. I do everything I can to reduce contamination, but no guarantees can be made. If you are severely sensitive or allergic to any allergens, I am not the baker for you.

Do you offer gluten free, dairy free, or vegan options? At this time, I don't offer dietary or allergy free options. I will update this answer if I ever do offer other options. As stated above though, I do everything I can to reduce contamination, but no guarantees can be made. If you are severely sensitive or allergic to any allergens, I am not the baker for you.

Where are you located? Can you deliver? Do you ship?I am located in McMinnville, OR. I currently do not offer delivery and your order will need to be picked up at our home. Pick up address will be on the PayPal invoice I send out, and the email reminder sent the day before pick up. I do not offer shipping.

What are Cottage Food Laws? Is your kitchen state inspected?Oregon's Cottage Food Law (Oregon Baking Bill) allows bakers to sell baked goods from a home kitchen. As long as the rules of this law are followed, a home kitchen does not need to be inspected. My husband has written a nice blog post explaining the law and how we comply. You can read it here.

What if I still have questions? You can either email me at mailonebakersjourney@gmail.com or you can fill out the form below and include your question in the form.
Each decorated cookie that One Baker’s Journey makes is handmade. Every batch of dough is made to order, rolled, cut and baked to perfection. The icing is made and colored per order, then each cookie is decorated by hand in a process that can take days to complete to create a unique piece of art. The best part is, that this is art you can eat. One Bakers Journey has spent years perfecting recipes for these cookies. The flavor is just as special as the art on top. While some choose not to eat them, the goal is to enjoy it with your eyes, then your taste buds.
For Best Flavor:
The cookie should be kept in an airtight package. Most orders will be delivered with each cookie individually sealed in a plastic sleeve. If yours is not, a zip-top bag with as much air removed as possible will also work. Sealed in a package, cookies can last up to 3 weeks at room temperatures. Do not refrigerate cookies, as this will dry them out.
For Longer Storage:
Cookies can be frozen for up to 2 months. For best results, keep them individually sealed and place them in an airtight Tupperware type container. When thawing, take the container out of the freezer and place it on the counter to thaw completely, about 8 hours. During this time, do not open the container. Opening the container before its completely thawed can cause condensation to develop and ruin the icing.
